YMMV / My Little Pony Tales S 1 E 17 Up, Up and Away

• Awesome Music: "The Adventure". It has clever rhyming, most notably, "Who wants to study science when I could be battling giants?", and an upbeat tone.
• Bizarro Episode: In this episode of this Slice of Life iteration of My Little Pony, a winged unicorn and three pegasi show up to magically save the day.
• Delusion Conclusion: Given how out-of-place it is in a Slice of Life show like this that a winged unicorn and three pegasi would come and rescue Patch and Bon Bon, Shunks theorizes that's not how it happened at all; maybe it was all a fantasy Patch conjured up in her last moments of life before she and Bon Bon drowned or were devoured by the sharks, and every episode afterward is either an extension of this fantasy or the afterlife Patch and Bon Bon now reside in.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: The giant Patch defeats in her song is yellow with red spots, the color scheme of a giant creature introduced later in another cartoon.
• Signature Scene: Brightglow and the other magical ponies showing up to rescue Patch and Bon Bon before the sharks can eat them is one of only two instances of supernatural phenomena (outside of anthropomorphic ponies) in the series^note the other being Squire's ghost appearing in "Slumber Party", and sticks out for this reason.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: This episode introduced mysterious pegasi (one of which introduces herself as Brightglow) and a Winged Unicorn whose bodies are noticeably brighter than the other characters and dotted with stars. The winged unicorn^note which have also been called "unipegs", "pegacorns", or "alicorns" performs magic and they appear to know Patch. They are only seen for this one episode, only to never be brought up again. Presumably this might have gotten a followup if there had been a second season. Still, it does make for good Fanfic Fuel.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Miss Hackney scolds Patch and Bon Bon for their irresponsible behavior in going for a ride in the hot air balloon, even though she and Mr. Kiddoo were the ones who left the class and the balloon unattended in the first place.
