• Alternate Aesop Interpretation:
  • It's meant to be about listening to your friends' advice, but becomes more about the importance of explaining yourself properly, given that Pinkie hardly even tries to explain why she's looking for musical instruments. Or warn the others, upon seeing the first few parasprites, that they're bad news. Or explain that she IS trying to solve the problem, at any point, despite claiming and at the end that she did try to. There were a lot of opportunities for her to have explained herself properly.
  • Also, one could take it as "don't take animals you don't know anything about out of their natural environment".
• Alternative Character Interpretation:
  • It's easy to take the ending as Celestia recognizing what happened immediately and leaving early to let Twilight save face, especially since she gives her reason as a nearby infestation. Or else the Parasprites came from Fillydelphia and Celestia has only heard about it now.
  • Pinkie may have assumed the others knew what the Parasprites were and how to get rid of them, hence not explaining herself at first. By the time she realises they don't know, they're convinced she's crazy and won't listen to her anyway.
• Broken Aesop: The aesop of this episode, "you should listen to what your friends have to say instead of dismissing them", is undermined because of Pinkie's lack of communication to her friends about what the parasprites are, and how to get rid of them, giving up after one attempted explanation. In particular, Twilight specifically asks Pinkie if she knows anything about the Parasprites, only for Pinkie to mutter that she needs a trombone and leave without explanation.
• Fanfic Fuel: How does Pinkie Pie know so much about Parasprites anyway?
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • In Twilight's Imagine Spot, Celestia arrives in Ponyville only to become abducted by the parasprites. Not so funny after her magic becomes overpowered by Chrysalis and Tirek.
  • Twilight temporarily loses her mind when she expects Celestia to arrive in Ponyville. Her behavior is nothing compared to what she would go through later on.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Rainbow Dash scoffs at the hideous dress Rarity makes her model. In "Suited For Success", Rainbow Dash forces Rarity to make a dress she finds hideous.
• Memetic Mutation: You're not supposed to feed parasprites, and you're not supposed to "feed" internet trolls. Thus the brony community rather quickly started calling internet trolls parasprites.
• Nausea Fuel: During the parasprites' rampage in Rarity's shop, the sounds of several parasprites vomiting can be heard. It's as gross as it sounds.
• Padding: The scene in Zecora's hut is considered by some to be mere filler, as Zecora merely tells Twilight that Ponyville is doomed (as the town is already being destroyed) and contributes very little else to the rest of the plot.
• Suspiciously Similar Song: Applejack starts herding the parasprites to a redux of the Bonanza theme.
