Dueling Games: With Warhammer 40,000. Both have The Legions of Hell screwing over humanity, massive battles, and crazy-awesome weapons. Warhammer 40,000 is, however, crispy-fried religious mumbo-jumbo Space Opera spanning light-eons whereas Mutant Chronicles is more secular about it (the Brotherhood and the Dark Legion nonwithstanding), with the backstory of various Mega Corps taking over the solar system. 40k seems to have won, having several spinoffs and novels. MC has an In Name Only movie and an arcade run-'n'-gun game that, while well received in its day, has had nothing of the success of the various adaptations of 40k.
Not to mention that Target Games went belly-up in the late nineties, and their IP was picked up by others, while GW has been going strong from the start.
In Name Only: The movie is often accused of this. It's a prequel far removed from the setting of game. As such, there are only a handful of elements from the game: the megacorporations, the Brotherhood, humanity having space colonies, and a mention of the Dark Legion toward the end of the movie.
