YMMV / Murder In Small Town X

Go To

  • Elimination Houdini: Kristen manages to play "The Killer's Game" (which always has a 50-50 shot of you getting killed) five separate times before getting ambushed by the killer.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Angel, the winner, died during September 11th, 2001 (he was a New York firefighter) only a week after the finale of MISTX aired, and his body was discovered a month or so later.
  • Narm: The contestants, obviously prompted by the film crew, always going on about how scared they are that they'll be killed, like they don't know it's all fake.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The Killer's Game was the elimination contest in which two contestants were sent to two locations, one with a vital clue, and the other with the killer lying in wait, to "murder" the contestant and eliminate them from the game. The contestant is sent completely alone in the middle of the night to these locations, each packed with several Jump Scares, and if they were unlucky enough to pick the killer's location, the last thing they see is them getting surprised attacked by the killer. All of them reacted in horror after getting jump scared by the killer and them screaming in terror was the last thing the audience would see before we hear a gunshot.
  • Paranoia Fuel:
    • The contestants are constantly reminded that if they are alone, they are at risk of being axed by the killer. While it never happens, it does make for some tense moments when the investigators are forced to split up.
    • In one episode the envelopes for the Killer's Game are left in the Jacuzzi on the deck of the HQ.
    • One of the last episodes has a tense scene where Katie and Mary Elizabeth are watching over C.R Flint. Mary Elizabeth goes downstairs to get C.R a drink, and immediately gets murdered!
    • The Killer's Game is this since the contestants had no information on which location had the killer. So even if they were lucky and picked the right location, they were still fearful that they could be being watched the entire time as they made their way through.
