YMMV / Muppets Now

Go To

  • Character Rerailment: Most of Scooter's divisive Manchild traits from the ABC show have been removed or downplayed in Muppets Now, returning to his original personality as a young, smart Straight Man to the other cast members.
  • Crosses the Line Twice:
    • Beaker finally reaching breaking point and "killing" his replacement, an Alexa knock-off who's been insulting him. With fire.
    • Beauregard casually mentioning that he stole most of the socks for Pepe's latest game show, with the additional mention that most of them don't have feet still in them.
    • Fozzie has an interview with Seth Rogen, but this keeps getting interrupted by the two babies Fozzie is supposed to be babysitting, who insist on doing dangerous things such as trying to eat poison, running with scissors, and playing with swords. It likely wouldn't be as funny if the babies weren't obviously Muppets and one of them didn't keep saying "Rogen" in a gravelly voice.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: New character Joe the Legal Weasel, who seems to have initially been created as a plot device to make the legal disclaimers and "we can't give too much away" teasers more interesting, has proven surprisingly popular. Must be the laugh.
  • Fridge Logic: When Roy Choi asks Beverly if the Swedish Chef is married, she quickly changes the subject. Since she always stands to the Chef's left, shouldn't she be able to see his wedding ring? Or did something happen to his wife and he doesn't want to talk about it?
  • Funny Moments:
    • The Science Lab's "melt / burn" segment. Helped by Beak-R being flat-out psychopathic about the whole thing.
    • The Beep-u-lator, and its desperate attempts not to get thrown out by Honeydew.
Dr. Honeydew: You had me at "various".
    • Uncle Deadly messing with Piggy's head during her self-affirmations.
Taye Diggs: I am... scared of her.
Uncle Deadly: You have no idea...
  • So Okay, It's Average: The general consensus for the series is that while it's not terrible, it doesn't do too much to make the skits stand out from typical Muppet fare.
  • Special Effect Failure: In the sixth episode, a watermark for FX Factory Pro appears several times during the segment "Lifesty(le) with Miss Piggy".
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Many iconic Muppet characters, such as Fozzie, Gonzo, Statler and Waldorf make only glorified cameos and don't get their own segments.
