  • Awesome Music: Being a music network, it makes sense that they'd have songs of their own:
    • First came "99 to 299", a rap song created by then cameraman Tony "Master T" Young in 1987 to mark the move from Citytv and Much's original facility on 99 Queen East to their new headquarters at 299 Queen West. It's actually the very first Canadian rap video in the network's archives.
    • A year later, the success of "99 to 299" led Master T to gather a motley crew and create a new video, one designed to celebrate the network's freedom-minded ethos. The result was "The Muchmusic Groove", featuring the entirety of Much's on-air staff and fearless leader Moses Znaimer. It too was a hit and was frequently seen on Much (before the master tape mysteriously vanished).
    • Finally, 1996 saw a revamp of the network's Saturday night dance music show Electric Circus, and this meant a four-minute long dancing extravaganza. "Hang on, here we go!"
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: When Neil Young released a satirical song, "This Note's For You," in 1988, MTV bowed to Michael Jackson's lawyers pressure not to air the music video it since it made fun of him. However, MuchMusic, bowing to the backlash Jackson had at the time, chose to air it (Young's a big native Canadian star and the channel had Canadian Content, or "CanCon", broadcast rules to follow). The video proved a big hit on Much and MTV chose to air it in the end. The video won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Video of the Year for 1989 and was nominated for a Grammy for "Best Concept Video". However, the video hasn't exactly aged well, especially in the wake of Jackson's death.
  • Moment of Awesome: In June 2001, the network had a "Not Much On Day", a three hour marathon of music videos featuring pop stars wearing little or no clothing. It was hosted by a naked Rachel Perry, much to the delight of viewers and some very lucky crew members. Highlights can be seen here.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!:
    • There were quite a few viewers who weren't happy about Much removing all the teen dramas from their schedule, outside of Degrassi simulcasts (with MTV Canada, where the show and reruns were moved to). You can also imagine a number of longtime viewers of The Comedy Network were less than thrilled that most of their acquired shows, like South Park and Tosh.0, were moving to a network that wasn't supposed to be airing (unrelated) comedies in the first place.
    • Even Canadian musicians (such as Dave Bidini of the Rheostatics and various members of Billy Talent and Alexisonfire) have voiced their complaints about Much's Network Decay in the past, saying the lack of music videos does a disservice to them and young music fans.
