• Harsher in Hindsight: "Video Bargainville"
  • As the song predicted, "Soon there will be program your own TV", resulting in lots of video rental places being closed.
  • The line, "Or something that inevitably lends/ Itself to shapely curves/ And bands of exploited women and their friends" is harsher after Jian Ghomeshi's scandal. (For extra terror, Jian sings the lead of "Video Bargainville".)
  • In "Kick in the Ass", one of the people who would get kicked was "That guy who wrote that book about the bell curve." In 2017, Charles Murray, one of the authors of said book, was attacked in an appearance at Middlebury College.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: The King of Spain in office at the time of the eponymous song, Juan Carlos I, indeed ended up abdicating and making for a foreign country incognito (albeit due to a scandal rather than a Prince and Pauper swap, and to the Emirates rather than Canada). Sadly, "King of Spain" didn't get the popularity bump it might have enjoyed at the time, perhaps because Jian Ghomeshi's own scandal was getting underway around the same time.
