YMMV / Mortal Komedy

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Everyone in Mortal Komedy. Examples include Smoke being a, um.... smoker, Liu Kang being a terrible fighter, Jax desiring to be out of Sonya's friend zone, and Baraka having a passion for cooking. Sub-Zero and Johnny Cage, though also shown to be idiotic, are slightly less so, perhaps due to being played by the head writers/directors.
  • Awesome Music: The end credits music for the April Fool's Day episode.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Jade, or more specifically, Kyna Porteous, the actress playing her. Fans really seem to like her a lot, and often leave comments complementing her on her good looks.
    • Tomas Guinan, who came in late to the series as Kano, is also this. Phelous seems to have taken notice, as the new episode that aired after the long hiatus prominently features Kano.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Watching Liu Kang take on Raiden in the first episode can become somewhat awkward if you've made it to the end of Story Mode of Mortal Kombat 9.
    • There's a scene where Cyrax says that he got Sub-Zero and Smoke something, to which the latter replies: "Johnny Cage's severed head?" Cyrax responds no, but that it's a good idea, they'll work on that. In Mortal Kombat 9, what's one of the first scenes in Story Mode? Johnny Cage's head, ripped off by an unknown assailant.
    • Think that it's odd that it's Cyrax, Sektor and Sub-Zero (instead of Smoke) that form a Power Trio in Episode 7? Mortal Kombat 9 would like to have a word, since Sub-Zero is the one who gets automated in place of Smoke in that storyline.
    • Sindel dying after a Taking You with Me moment from another character and winding up in the Netherealm.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • In the Time Travel Special, Raiden proposes going back in time to stop the bad guy's plan for global conquest before it starts. Sound familiar? What makes this even funnier is Sub-Zero questioning Raiden on this.
    • There is an episode where Cage fights Scorpion, catches his spear, and pulls the latter with it. This would later happen in the Helicopter scene from Mortal Kombat X.
