- Sindel is back to being the loving mother and queen she was in the original timeline.
- Shang Tsung thankfully averts the Badass Decay that he went through in MK9.
- Shao Kahn is treated as cunning as he is brutal, and much more patient and level-headed than he was in MK9.
- The Technical Pacifist aspect of Liu Kang's character is emphasized here more than it generally is in canon.
- Goro's noble side is given emphasis along with his fighting prowess, instead of just portraying him as muscle for Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn.
