YMMV / More Than Human

  • Catharsis Factor:
    • Princess' mother showing up in chapter 1 and giving her daughter a thourough verbal beatdown which has been overdue since the latter's debut in the original show.
    • Buttercup and then Brick beating the smug smile out of Butch's face late in chapter 2 is this both in and out of universe, especially since he had been nothing but a perverted Card-Carrying Jerkass to everyone (especially Buttercup) throughout chapters 1 and 2.
    • Boomer shaving Ashley's hair off in chapter 3 and ruining the other cheerleaders' uniforms in chapter 5 may not have been this for Bubbles, but it certainly was for many readers, due to how pointlessly mean they had been acting towards the poor girl for petty reasons.
    • Bubbles finally breaking up with her Jerk Jock boyfriend Will in chapter 4, after a rousing "The Reason You Suck" Speech which she had been holding back since as early as chapter 2.
    • Brick getting sick with the Amoeba Virus in chapter 8 and seeing what it's like to be weak for the first time is a satisfying Humble Pie for him after how much of a Smug Super he's been acting towards his fellow students.
    • Brick tossing Mojo Jojo down a pit and hearing him hit every piece of metal as he falls.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Despite being a Canon Foreigner, Penny quickly became popular for her plucky yet mysterious demeanor, and for her dynamic with the Boys, especially Brick, as well as being the main link for the readers to the mysterious JS. Inc. Chapter 12 only cemented her popularity with her unexpected visit to Townsville, which left readers on edge.
  • Fan Nickname: The main PPG and RRB pairings are often referred to by the fic's creator and its fanbase as "the Reds" (for Brick and Blossom), "the Greens" (for Butch and Buttercup) and "the Blues" (for Bubbles and Boomer).
  • Iron Woobie:
    • Robin is taken hostage and almost shot in Chapter 5, and has to deal with her date Mike getting kidnapped in chapter 10A, and despite this, she's the one comforting Blossom over these events.
    • Mike gets put through absolute hell in chapter 10A, being kidnapped and brainwashed by Sedusa and then beaten up by Boomer, but by the next chapter, he adresses the matter fairly casually.
  • Jerkass Woobie:
    • Despite being a royal bastard, Butch becomes this in chapter 3 as we see the aftermath of Brick beating the absolute shit out of him and then nullifying the Chemical X in his system to give him a lesson. Even Blossom and Buttercup feel somewhat bad for him, despite being the main victims of his jerkassery. After he's almost killed by HIM's Vortex in chapter 10, he becomes a borderline Iron Woobie.
    • Buttercup becomes this retroactively in chapter 7A, when she angrily breaks up Mitch following a major fight (in which Both Sides Have a Point), and then is eventually left sobbing against the professor's chest. Though she isn't completely blameless, and most of the drama came from her projecting her own insecurities unto Mitch and the gang, it's hard not to feel for her as she laments how "he didn't know how much [she] loved him" in-between sobs. In chapter 10, she becomes a straightforward Woobie as she has a near Heroic BSoD over Butch's near-fatal injury.
    • Despite being the most stubbornly villainous Rowdyruff, Brick alternates between this and Stoic Woobie, depending on just how badly he reacts to all the crap he has to put up with. Aside from HIM going out of His way to troll (read:try to kill) him, Mrs. Moorbucks keeping him in check, his brothers putting all his goals in jeopardy, and Darius keeping him from coming back home at JS Inc, his constant denial of his own feelings concerning Blossom are the source of all his demons, and he carries more self-inflicting baggage than he's willing to admit.
    • Also Boomer. All he wants is to be normal and live happily ever after with Bubbles. However, his crippling loyalty to Brick (who overall treats him like shit) and his own unchecked emotional turmoil stand in the way. The "Jerkass" part comes from how possessive he is over Bubbles, bordering on Yandere territory. However, he's at his most pitiable when he's gets vulnerable with her, as he's genuine in his feelings but doesn't know what to do with them.
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • The terrorist gunmen cross it when they take the entire school hostage and threaten to start shooting the students. Their leader stays past the line when he shoots Brick in the face for taunting him, not knowing he was Immune to Bullets.
    • Mojo Jojo crosses it when he defies Blossom's attempt at an Enemy Mine and leaves her to die inside of his self-destructing Robo-Jojo.
    • Mrs. Moorbucks crosses it by secretly attaching a device on Brick that essentially made him live bait for the monsters roaming Townsville, all to test the technology. Though she wasn't expecting the monster barrier to flicker and cause a massive monster invasion, she later shows no remorse over the consequences of her actions, and then gaslights Brick by bringing up all the favors she did for him to keep him in line.
    • Though HIM was already on the other side by the time of His introduction, He cements himself as this when He completely shrugs off Butch's near-fatal injury caused by his vortex, suggesting that he deserved it for being so disobedient.
  • One True Pairing: As troubled and complicated as their relationship has been shown to be, the chemistry between the Powerpuff Girls and the Rowdyruff Boys, both before and after the Belligerent Sexual Tension starts kicking in, has been cited as the highlight of the fanfic both by people who shipped them from the source material and people who didn't, with each pairing carrying multiple Bottle Episodes by themselves.
  • Shocking Moments: HIM's sudden appearance in chapter 7, which comes with little to no prompting.
  • Signature Scene:
    • The Boys' sudden introduction in chapter 1.
    • Buttercup's fight with Butch in chapter 2, and Brick's intervention.
    • Bubbles breaking up with Will and flying out of his car in chapter 4.
    • Bubbles being Brainwashed and Crazy by HIM in chapter 7 and then breaking free by giving Boomer a Big Damn Kiss, driving away the literal and metaphorical turmoil inside of her and sealing their Relationship Upgrade.
    • Buttercup and Butch "reaching third base" in the woods but stopping themselves from going all the way in chapter 11.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: It's a Powerpuff Girls fanfic that features explicit language, drug use, blood, mild sexual content, succubi, and Butch. On top of that, it goes deep on the nature of relationship problems and how it can affect the participants.
  • The Woobie:
    • Bubbles in the first four chapters due to being Derailing Love Interests with Will, who keeps shutting down her many attempts to savage their relationship. She cries on multiple occasions throughout the events with one specific instance being described as "looking like a wounded puppy". On top of that, she has to deal with Boomer having an unrequited crush on her (which she's scared of reciprocating), and her cheerleader friends being total bitches to her. Even after getting together with Boomer and getting thrown a few bones, she still has to deal with Boomer's flaws and the knowledge of his past, which she can't get over as easily as Buttercup.
    • Cindy in chapters 4 and 5, where not only does Brick take advantage of her at prom because he was frustrated with Blossom, but she is then taken hostage by the gunmen during the school occupation, which she takes particularly badly. Even Brick feels bad for her, and gives her a rare apology just to make her feel better.
    • Though she's mostly an Iron Woobie (due to her Chronic Hero Syndrome stopping her from enjoying the highschool life), Blossom fits the bill after Brick rejects her in chapter 9, especially poignant as she had finally come to terms with her conflicting feelings for him, only for him to shut her right off after briefly letting her in. She's left utterly inconsolable after the fact.
