• Fan Nickname: The opening theme of the animated TV adaptation is sometimes nicknamed as "The Patriotic Japanese Song" (Cancion patriotica japonesa, in Spanish) by Latin American fans due of its catchiness.^note If you are wondering why was named as such, keep in mind, at least in the 70s and 80s, when the animated series was shown, Latin American audiences weren't used to the way how harsher Japanese vocals from the 70s could sound, at least for Spanish-speaking ears, causing people to think the song was talking about Japan, while in reality the song was a speed-up version of the original live-action series' theme song.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The '70s anime is extremely popular in Latin America.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: In 1972 the anime featured a villain called the bat who resembles the titular character of Devilman, in 1973 Devilman’s creator wrote Kekko Kamen as a parody of Moonlight Mask.
• Older Than They Think: Typically Ultraman is given credit for being the first Japanese TV superhero, but Gekko Kamen long preceded him.
