Ruby: I am sick. I am sick, sick, sick of your shit. And when I'm not sick, I'm tired. I am sick and tired! Viola: What are you saying? Ruby: Damn you and your luggage! Viola: Ruby, y-you're not gonna leave me too, are you? Ruby: No. I'm not leaving you. You old slut.
Tear Jerker: When Viola is called out on her overbearing ways, she tearfully admits that she loves her son and just wants him to be happy.
It's hard not to feel bad for Viola at the beginning of the movie. After decades of faithful service to her network, she is unceremoniously forced to retire simply because the heads think she's too old for the demographic they're trying to appeal to. And, to top it off, they decided that the best time to give her this devastating news was right before she was about to go on air.
