Complete Monster: Hun Dun (or Hundun) the Demon King—the leader of the mountain trolls—is an alchemist practitioner searching for eternal life. Tasking his minions with invading villages to capture children, Hun Dun aims to sacrifice them on the Day of the Total Solar Eclipse by burning them to death in a large alchemy furnace and converting their life essences into an elixir, thereby prolonging his own life. His search for immortality throws him into conflict with the group when Jiang Liuer saves a young girl from getting taken. After succeeding at capturing the young girl through an elaborate trap, Hun Dun, angered by Liuer's intrusion with his plans, seizes the young boy and strangles him to the point of unconsciousness, which advances to him trying to violently dispose of the boy by firing several blasts at him. Upon acquiring energy from the solar eclipse, Hun Dun transforms into a nightmarish monster and begins to destroy everything in his path. Hun Dun also throws a boulder at Liuer when the titular Monkey King, Sun Wukong, was desperately trying to save him.
Funny Moments: Pay attention to a certain adult background character when the monsters attack the town while chasing Liuer and Sha Ya Tou. You'll see him run off, hide, and play dead when the monsters pass by his hiding place.
Moment of Awesome: Wukong's Power Limiter finally comes off in the climax, as he completes his character arc finally becomes the hero that Liuer imagined him to be. He first regains the ability to levitate, before melting an enormous boulder that Hun Dun throws at him into matter for his traditional battle armor, puling the Golden Cudgel from his ear, and going to town.
