YMMV / Mom and Dad Save the World

• Alternative Character Interpretation: General Afir is the only one on Spengo who isn't an idiot, and he's the one who calculated Marge's hometown as the spot where the Death Ray will strike. Given that and his actions later in the film where he plans to help Dick and Marge and denounces his ruler as a cretin, it's entirely possible he knew Spengo would fall in love with Marge, try to marry her, and bring about his downfall.
• Awesome Music: Jerry Goldsmith absolutely nails the tone of the film.
• Critical Dissonance: Critics hated it, but over the years it's become a Cult Classic of the "outrageous absurd parody" genre.
• Fashion-Victim Villain: Everyone on Spengo, but it makes perfect sense since Tod Spengo designed everything, from the clothes to the statuary to the music, and he has extremely poor taste.
• Nightmare Fuel: The carnivorous mushrooms look adorable until they open their mouths, which have Nested Mouths and way too many teeth. The creatures are surprisingly fast, too.
