YMMV / Miraculous Ladybug S01E03: "Copycat"

Go To

  • Franchise Original Sin:
    • This episode has the dubious honor of being the first to have Adrien/Cat Noir's Unintentionally Unsympathetic nature on display (with him getting possessive over Ladybug and not apologizing for causing Théo's akumatization contrasting how the writers want us to sympathize with him over his heartache). While it was forgiven back then because the show was still new, repeated instances of this in later episodes (especially in season 2 and 3) with no signs of him undergoing Character Development ended up turning him into the huge Base-Breaking Character he is today.
    • Similarly, this episode was the first to put Marinette's Stalker with a Crush tendencies on full display (her having Adrien's schedule and stealing Adrien's phone, though the latter was simply done to erase an embarrassing message from his answering machine). Again, it was forgiven because the show was still new and it was assumed she'd undergo character development (especially since the episode portrays the phone theft as wrong), but her continued stalker tendencies and the fact she never seems to learn her lesson in later seasons turned her into as big of a Base-Breaking Character as Adrien.
  • Squick: Théo looks like an adult and is (supposedly unknowingly) crushing on a 13-year-old. Thomas Astruc clarified that he's actually 16-18, but that still isn't much better.
