YMMV / Minecraft: The N00b Adventures

  • Fridge Logic: In the series, the protagonists going against Gaylord_Steambath seems like a normal David and Goliath battle, but let's face it - taking down an admin on a Minecraft server without getting some admin control of your own is just not possible. As any avid Minecraft fan can tell you, an admin on a server can easily go into creative mode whenever they want, making them impossible to kill, and basically giving them god powers. If Gaylord Steambath actually knew the full extent of what somebody with his position of power could do, he would constantly be curbstomping the players until they gave up and found another server. Stopping Gaylord_Steambath without carrying any form of server-altering power would be like somebody with no account banning Fast Eddie from TV Tropes.
    • It's strongly implied that this is the result of Gaylord's hubris; the protagonists' plan is specifically to keep killing him until he rage quits, and, when confronted, he prefers engaging them in combat over teleporting them into lava or burying them in TNT (at least, until near the end).
    • This is actually lampshaded by L0RD_S3RV3R in the series finale.
L0RD_S3RV3R: You caused all this trouble, even without Creative Mode?
  • Funny Moments: The heroes decide to give the Witch a name; she asks for suggestions.
    N00bly: Uhh...
    Snake: Ugly...
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The story of heroes facing down a tyrannical admin feels like something that one would only see in a fan story, or (hopefully not) in an actual multiplayer server, right? Well, eventually, the story would come to life in an official Minecraft product, with a character explicitly referred to as the Admin serving as the second season's Big Bad.
  • Special Effects Failure: In Episode 3, the Sonic pixel art that Snake was working on was clearly cut and pasted from a screenshot from in-game, as you could see the old Minecraft cursor crosshair on the pixel art. This was fixed in the remaster (Thanks to Minecraft now letting you toggle the HUD on and off), along with a few touches to the pixel art (Such as replacing the Netherrack with brown clay blocks)
  • Tear Jerker: Descartes' death.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: As the series was made way back in 2011 to 2015, it has many cases of showing mechanics exclusive to the old days of Minecraft, or lacking modern day mechanics. Some instances include:
    • N00bly feeding Fart a Golden Apple which instantly heals his wounds, a reference to how back then, there was no hunger bar, and food simply replenished your health upon consumption.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The enderman in Episodes 5-6, which N00bly and Fart had the misfortune of looking at out of curiosity. They thought they would be safe inside a cave, but then it just teleports in. Considering that neither of them had any armor on, it could have easily killed them both had YoDa_MoRpHeUs not saved them. And the server was set to hardcore by Gaylord, meaning that Snake could have been left all alone to deal with the tyrant.
    • The Wither, fittingly enough.
    • Herobrine is here. Also, the Apocalyptic Log of his victim.
