YMMV / Million Dollar Money Drop

Go To

  • Overshadowed by Controversy: The game show is perhaps infamous because of a controversy surrounding the question in one episode on which product was sold in stores first. The couple that participated in the episode, Brittany and Gabe, had bet $800,000 of their money on the Post-It Notes answer, but the money fell down the trapdoor, despite Post-It Notes actually being the correct answer. note  The producers of the show apologized for the incident, and asked the couple to return on the show to play again. The couple, however, declined to go back on the show, and stalled until the show was cancelled.
  • Padding: A good ten seconds of dead air usually elapsed between the announcement of the money dropping and the money actually dropping. For every answer. For every question.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The general reaction among fans of the original to the American version, although they quite frankly had a point. The set and music (both considered to be extremely good) were ditched for a bland, Deal or No Deal-esque set and generic game show music. Also, the game was changed needlessly, from adding the quick change, ditching a question, changing the the way the million divided (from 40 bundles of 25K in 50's to 50 bundles of 20K in 20's), and messing with the time limits such. Even worse, it's no longer live and the models (not the contestants) move the money back.
