YMMV / Mikoto Nikki

Go To

  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • One of the optional dialogues you can engage Mikoto in is to hold her hand after you find the fridge diary scrap. She becomes embarrassed by Matarou's sudden loving act that she starts blushing and stammering.
    • The True Ending when you choose to embrace her. Matarou is choosing to accept everything about Mikoto after learning how psychologically broken she is and learning that she killed three people. Most people probably run away after learning how disturbed Mikoto is, but the best ending has Matarou choosing to stay with her and help her get better.
    • A meta example. Out of all the Charon True Endings, this game's ending is the only one (so far) where the protagonist and the heroine get a happy ending. Neither of them die and there's no indication that they may be stuck in an endless loop like some other games imply. While Bokko Youchien adds onto their story by saying they're constantly on the run from the police, there's the idea that they were able to stay together for that long and have a son in the process. None of the other protagonists or girls are lucky enough to enter adulthood yet.
  • Tear Jerker: Mikoto's entire backstory. She was never supported by her parents and she became quite insecure about herself. In a desperate attempt to win her parents' approval, she made changes to herself and worked extra hard to be liked by her classmates. Despite everything that Mikoto did, her parents never accepted her. This finally pushed her over the edge and led to her locking them up in her closet where she tried to raise them instead.
