YMMV / Mickey's PhilharMagic

Go To

  • Fridge Logic: If Donald never actually took the hat, then what would've Mickey's planned concert been like?
  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • What was Donald's happy thought that allowed him to fly alongside Peter Pan and Tink? Knowing he was no longer falling to his death would make anybody happy.
    • Dante guiding Donald to the stage with the hat cleverly mirrors his role in Coco: he initially appears as a naturally mischievous dog, but is later revealed to have been in on the story's biggest secret (Héctor being Miguel's great-great-grandfather) the whole time, and that he had been guiding Miguel and Héctor together (hence, a spirit guide, like Pepita).
  • Genius Bonus: At the gift shop associated with this attraction, one of the walls features a set of notes. These notes are actually the first few notes of The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
  • It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: The Paris version of the attraction was a surprise late announcement for Mickey's 90th Anniversary and is housed in the theater that formerly aired Honey I Shrunk the Audience and Captain EO (later renamed Discoveryland Theater and oriented towards airing 4D content, rotating between an Ant-Man preview, Pixar shorts and Star Wars: Path of the Jedi). While fans didn't expect too much due to the short time the building was refurbished for the attraction, they were sad to discover that despite the original ride being 15 years old, no major changes had been made to the animation, many details from other versions of the attraction weren't included (such as Donald's statue when you walk out the theater or any special theming in and outside of the theater other than promotion banners) and that many elements from the original Imagination Institute theming from HISTA remained (like the lightbulb symbols in the queue and the Kodak advertisement at the exit). Nonetheless, it's a very popular attraction between guests who haven't been able to visit the other versions, and the theater is still able to play most of the 4D effects effectively. The same also applied when the attraction was ported to DCA in 2019 (like the theater is pretty much untouched from the MuppetVision days). Although, the DCA version does have more features than the one in Paris, since it takes advantage of the of what the old Muppet theater had, like the screens on the wall and there is even a animatronic Donald where the Swedish Chef used to be.
  • It Was His Sled: Despite Mickey being the face of the attraction, everyone nowadays knows Donald's the star of the show.
  • Spiritual Successor: The show is a successor to The Mickey Mouse Revue, in that they're both theater shows featuring Mickey Mouse as an orchestra conductor and other characters from various Disney animated classics performing medleys of their songs.
