YMMV / Mibibli's Quest

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The soundtrack consists of catchy chiptune music. The boss music and the theme of "Friday" deserve special mention.
  • Breather Level: A few end-game levels. "Monday" is very straightforward and has no obstacles, "Saturday" is rather basic, and "Thursday" can be this if you're good at shmups.
  • Demonic Spiders/Goddamn Bats: Nearly every enemy can qualify as either due to health pickups being few and far between and how fragile Mibibli is. Some specific examples:
    • The laserfrogs are indestructible and constantly stalk you with huge lasers. The ones in one of the secret areas is even worse, as the beam paralyzes you and sucks you towards the beam. Hope you're not too close to the beam, or worse, right next to a bed of spikes...
    • In "Friday", there are hanging Mibibli that when hit shoot a large, indestructible, hard to avoid black ring and spin their heads at you. They are especially lethal if you're foolish enough to destroy one in a narrow space. They also hurt like hell.
  • That One Boss: Darkibli. He copies your moves and attacks while you attack. On top of that, he summons hanging Mibibli clones, and there's projectiles raining everywhere. Even when you figure out how to hurt him, you still have more to avoid than just his counter-attacks. Hope your shots don't get deflected by the raining projectiles or accidentally destroy a clone.
  • That One Level:
    • "Rave" is brutal for an early-game level. Dance commands are everywhere, and if you fail one, you get frozen in place and shot. It's quite easy to screw up if a command hits you while you're trying to do something else.
    • The secret area in "Egg" is perhaps the most brutal of the Brutal Bonus Levels due to your jump being replaced with a weird levitation mechanic; when you jump, you slowly levitate and can't move horizontally until you get hit or your head touches a ceiling. The second half is even worse, as you're navigating your way through corridors with a row of insta-kill spike-launching enemies at the bottom. On the bright side, you get your normal jump back when you fight Humanibli.
    • "Tuesday". Spikes are everywhere, and there are Reducer Orbs, annoying enemies that gradually reduce your HP and are immune to Mind Missiles. The first half introduces you to these bastards as well as some massive Thwomp Expies to navigate around. The second half is brutal, as you have to navigate a maze of spikes while falling while having to deal with autoscrolling and the ever annoying homing spike. If you take too much damage during this segment, the Reducer Orb in the next screen will kill you.
