- Older Than They Think: Many consider this game to be a Spiritual Adaptation of Superman, especially Man of Steel. However some elements, such as the health bar representing the city while the player has to be careful to avoid damaging it with their powers, was used in the Superman Returns video game.
- Porting Disaster: The PC version of the game forces you to use some of the abilities (including one needed to defeat the final boss) with a controller, instead of keybindings, to say nothing of how it also launched without VR support despite previous versions being VR-enabled. Both of these problems were fixed in later patches, however.
- Sidetracked by the Gold Saucer: Exploring space and blowing up cities are usually considered more fun than fighting the aliens the way you're supposed to.
- Spiritual Adaptation:
- Quite a few reviewers considers this to be Man of Steel: The Game, given the sense of flight and massive amount of collateral damage involved. One youtube reviewer joked that this is a training tool Batman created for Superman to teach him about minimizing casualties.
- Comparison of the hero to Dr. Manhattan is also common, especially since the Offspring is fully capable of living up to the latter's famous boast of standing upon the surface of the sun.
