YMMV / Mega Man Rocks

Go To

  • Anticlimax Boss: The Wily Castle 1 boss does nothing remotely threatening aside from bouncing off of surfaces.
  • Awesome Music: Several, but the ones that stand out are Police Man's stage, Wily Castle 1, and Wily Castle 2.
  • Breather Boss: The Wily battle at the end of Wily Castle 1 is much easier than the stage itself (which is pretty long).
  • Breather Level: Door Man's stage, a hotel, has absolutely no One-Hit Kill hazards. Easiest level in the game, however, Door Man can be That One Boss without his weakness.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Door Man. Granted, he pretty much owes it to his appearance in the second Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest, but he's generally the most popular of the robot masters featured.
  • Goddamned Bats: The game is filled with several irritating enemies, but two stand out:
    • The floating box-like enemies that fire out a shot that drops downward. Unfortunately, it's very accurate as to when it will drop the shot. Worse, it is usually too fast to kill in one go before it moves offscreen, and worst of all, they're almost always found near bottomless pits, and can easily knock Mega Man into them.
    • Second are the robotic ducks from Hit Man's stage, which act very similarly to the medusa heads from Castlevania. All they do is fly straight and take one hit to die. However they always appear just above the platform you're going to jump on, knocking you into one of the many Bottomless Pits in the stage.
  • Once Original, Now Common: This game was one of the, if not the, earliest Mega Man fangame ever created and released. However, fangames like Unlimited and Rock Force coming out that were far more close to Mega Man Classic physics have not made this game age well by comparison. The Sarah Palin joke didn't help, as well.
  • That One Boss: Door Man, if you do not have the Anchor Swing. He has a really cheap move where he uses a full-screen attack that hits for a quarter of Mega Man's health! Thankfully, hitting him with the Anchor Swing or a fully charged buster shot will stop the attack.
  • That One Level:
    • Repo Man's stage. A Death Course filled with timed insta-kill Spikes of Doom that turn on and off, and if you don't get your timing right, that's a life gone.
    • Hit Man's stage has disappearing blocks as well as many instances with Ledge Bats that exist solely to knock Mega into Bottomless Pits.
    • Police Man's stage has multiple pitfalls, and the box enemies that knock him into them.
    • You could make a case for Repair Man's stage with the multitude of conveyor wheels and bottomless pits. Combined with loose play control and collision issues with the game, Repair Man's stage is a nightmare.
