YMMV / Mega Babies

Go To

  • Americans Hate Tingle: The show was never really huge in Canada but it's got a very large and very vocal hatedom in the United States. Reasons for this include the show's humor, poor voice acting, and animation.
  • Bile Fascination: For anyone who has any interest in this show, is to test how strong their stomachs are.
  • Fridge Horror: While it's barely elaborated on, it's been said that the babies were sent to an orphanage almost immediately after they were born, suggesting their mom died giving birth to them or something else just as bad, if not worse.
  • Funny Moments:
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: While far from "loved", the series performed better in the United Kingdom than in its native Canada and America, as Channel 5 had this series as a stable of their lineup when the series was still on the air.
  • Guilty Pleasure: The very few viewers who don't outright hate this show often consider it to be this trope.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: A colorfully grotesque series featuring a little girl with green hair that wears pink and yellow, sounds familiar?
  • Nausea Fuel: It's infamous for being a Grossout Show Gone Horribly Right. It would be easier to count the amount the times were there isn't Toilet Humor or Gross-Up Close-Up's of any kind.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Meg was voiced by the late Jaclyn Linetsky, who's best known for being the second voice actress for Caillou.
  • Reviews Are the Gospel: The cartoon community, most famously RebelTaxi and The Mysterious Mr. Enter, helped create a short-lived but vocal hatedom for the show, as the series faded into complete obscurity before the former mentioned it in his "Top 10 Ugliest Cartoons" video.note
  • Tear Jerker: The episode "Don't Let the Bed Bugs Bite". The episode is about Meg being fussy because Nurse Lazlo is giving her, Buck, and Derrick a nap in which Meg states that she wishes that she didn't have a Nurse. Later on she accidentally releases mutant bed bugs that grow when they come into contact with sunlight. The babies think that they ate Lazlo and after the monsters are defeated Meg cries and blames herself for Lazlo's apparent death. Luckily, Nurse Lazlo did not die, but was in the bath all along.
  • Ugly Cute: What the artists were probably aiming for with the babies themselves. If one somehow gets over the grotesque mutations and constant bodily functions, it might work.
