• Growing the Beard: While always a good high concept, the fic's writing style reached its stride at about the third or fourth chapter, with the preceding chapters being choppier in terms of words and tone than the rest of the story.
• Moe: Anne's frog form. The light blue skinned teenage frog girl, wearing her outfit from the show (at least with her shirt collar and skirt being grey, instead of purple, and not having her school logo). Her having her brown, curly hair even as a frog, makes her even more cuter.
• Nightmare Fuel: The flood chapter, which isn't just a mass of water that risks mass property damage, but it is contaminated with salt, meaning that it is basically poisonous to amphibians. Even a splash is basically a serious burn, and if you fall in it… and then Anne does while Hop Pop watches. Fortunately for everyone, humans are not weak to salt, but no one, including Anne, knew that the time.
• The Woobie: The Boonchuys, Anne's birth parents, experienced their daughter being kidnapped in the night as an infant and have been searching for Anne for 13 years with no clues on what happened to her had to be declared Legally Dead. No wonder they shed Tears of Joy when the cops finally found her. Unlike the show, they witness their daughter's Heroic Sacrifice and she dies in their arms.
