  • Overshadowed by Controversy: At the time of its release, the album got a lot of ill-will from reviewers and the public for scooping the reveal of the Beatles’ breakup, which the band had agreed not to do until the release of Let It Be, seemingly using what was devastating news to many people as a marketing ploy.
  • Vindicated by History: It took a bit of a shellacking from critics on the first release, but it’s since become accepted as an important precursor to the Lo Fi and Indie Pop genres with its DIY aesthetic.
