YMMV / Maximum the Hormone

  • Crosses the Line Twice
  • Fridge Brilliance: Their song "F" is also in the key of F (minor).
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • "Bikini Sports Ponchin" is frequently misheard as variations on "Lickin' His Balls, Ball-Chin".
    • From "Koi no Mega Lover": "BITCH, YOU ROCK! GET UP! GET YOUR WAY!"
      • "Sweet 'n' sour, Pikachu bacon lover!"
    • Despite what the Death Note fansubs would have you think, they are not singing "Hey, hey, ningen SUCKER! Ah ningen ningen FUCKER!" in "What's Up, People?!"
      • The entirety of "What's Up, People?!" is mishearing-rich material. Go into any video of the song on YouTube and check the comments, and chances are you'll find users poking fun of the lyrics. Heck, many Buffalaxes of the videos (both the MV and the Death Note OP) have been made.
  • Moment of Awesome: Just the fact that "F" is literally responsible for the entire return and evolution of the Dragon Ball archvillain Frieza. Thanks to Akira Toriyama being inspired by the song to create Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F', to the point that the title of the film refers to him as "F" and the song itself made it as an Insert Song in the film, the character went from being the Big Bad of the first third of Dragon Ball Z and glorified So Last Season cannon fodder in limited future appearances after that to a permanent evolving fixture near the top of the pecking order of the Seventh Universe in the Dragon Ball Super era. In short, by relating Frieza to the oppression of Tibet and creating a song their label VAP allegedly had to give Toei Animation the rights to do so they didn't get sued (yes, this is equal parts Filk Song, Protest Song, and a positive example of Executive Meddling all in one), Maximum the Hormone revived Frieza years before they even knew it.
  • True Art: The video for "Zetsubou Billy" strongly implies that Kira took out all the 'fake' bands, leaving Maximum the Hormone, presumably for the reason they are True Music.
