• Alternative Character Interpretation: When Fraunie sees that one of the women he tries to propose to is black, he immediatly runs away. Was he showing thw typical racism for the time this film was made, or did he run because he realized he wouldn't be able to marry that woman due to the anti-mixed marriage laws at the time?
• Values Dissonance: Aming the women Fraunie tries to propose to, there's one whose face is covered by a veil. He starts talking to her excitedly until she lifts her veil and reveals that she's black, at which point he promptly runs away.
