YMMV / Mars Horizon

Go To

  • Friendly Fandoms: With Kerbal Space Program player-base. Both games deal with running a space agency with rather relaxed attitude and while the science is there, it's not taken too serious nor the games are hardcore simulators.
  • Game-Breaker:
    • Soviet's default ability to use "no launch window" slots as if they were "sub-optimal window". Once you get the hang of the game, using sub-optimal windows isn't as big of an issue as it seems, while you don't have to wait anywhere between 6 and 20 months for the proper launch window and thus can always snatch a milestone from other agencies.
    • When designing or redesigning an agency, getting from the start a +1 mission slot regardless of infrastructure allows you to waltz through the early phases of the game, gaining significant edge over your competition or at least working with some breathing room.
  • Spiritual Successor: May work as as "Spiritual Prequel" to Surviving Mars, as both games are strongly focused on the realistic side of space exploration, and the starting point of that game is the ending of this one. Besides, the three space agencies have their respective mission sponsor.
