• Ensemble Dark Horse:
  • The show is far more vibrant and interesting when James Purefoy as Louis XV is onscreen, so much so that his fans have whispered that another actor in a 2023 film might suffer by comparison.
  • Jonas Bloquet not only resembles that real Joseph II, he adds a lot of sex appeal to the character.
• Hollywood Homely: Louise Auguste and Provence are both played by handsome actors, even though they are thought to be unattractive by the people around them.
• Spiritual Successor: The series was ordered by Canal+ following the end of Versailles, and much of it is set at the same eponymous place nearly one century after the final season of the latter series.
