• Arc Fatigue: Malifaux's Meta Plot advances at a snail's pace. The Event occurred at the end of Book 2. It took THREE YEARS just to find out what happened to several characters as a result.

• Game-Breaker: The first edition had three notable examples: The Ortegas from the first book were the anti-Neverborn crew, but performed extremely well against everyone. The second book introduced The Dreamer, who could devastate an opponent's crew on the first turn, and Hamelin, who essentially auto-won against Gremlin crews because their Height 1 models were prevented from targeting him. The Dreamer and Hamelin were both eventually nerfed, but the Ortegas retained their prominence throughout First Edition.
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: A VERY vocal faction of Malifaux players have been saying this ever since the announcement of Second Edition.
