YMMV / Making the Band

• Never Live It Down:
  • The cheesecake walk.
  • Ness getting choked out by Fred (with his pants down) gets replayed twice, both during reflections on the group's ups and downs. Both times, they are (possibly unintentionally) replayed with precise comedic timing.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • Mysterious’ sister was killed halfway through Season 1, and her corpse was chopped up, being stuffed in different garbage bags. Needless to say, Mysterious did not take this well.
• Sequel Displacement: Making the Band 2, focusing on Bad Boys's Da Band is unquestionably way more popular than the original series which centered around boy band O-Town. That series is only mentioned in passing in one episode, and is barely remembered in general.
• Squick: Fred sucking his thumb has grossed out a good portion of viewers. Ironically, in-universe, the only person to ever even point it out was Diddy, who simply found it funny.
• Wangst:
  • Jamie is often criticized for being extremely whiny and sensitive, crying on a whim for a good portion of his screentime. The worst example of this is when Chopper makes an off-hand line about zipping him up in plastic when they were battle rapping, but the moment when Pocahontas calls him a “white devil” is at least understandable.
  • Mysterious similarly tended to be overdramatic and would cause scenes regularly over the most minor inconvenience. The only times her anger or grief seemed well-founded are when the news broke of her sister's death, and when she didn't make the band as a finalist.
• The Woobie:
  • Poor Sara can't catch a break.
  • Mysterious in Season 1, especially when she loses her sister, misses her funeral to focus on making the cut, and then ends up being rejected anyway.
