• Ensemble Dark Horse: Teng She. Every time he appears most of the YouTube commenters focus on him rather than the protagonists.
• Fight Scene Failure: Early in episode one a group of soldiers try to fight off a magical attack. Unfortunately, the CGI magic is nowhere near them, and it looks like they're just waving their weapons in the air.
• Friendly Fandoms: With Ashes of Love due to them being the same genre and having similar plots.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Xuan Ji and Si Feng's fourth lifetime has superficial similarities with The Untamed. Probably unintentional — Love and Redemption started filming months before The Untamed aired — but Xuan Ji's black and red costume is reminiscent of Wei Wuxian's, while Si Feng's past self wears white and gives up his eyesight for another character like Xiao Xingchen.
• Retroactive Recognition: Huang You Ming has a minor role as Wu Tong. A year later he became famous for playing Ye Bai Yi in Word of Honor.
• Special Effects Failure: The special effects are unconvincing, especially when a character is using magic. And the less said the better about the supernatural creatures.
• The Woobie: Both Si Feng and Xuan Ji. They first fell in love thousands of years ago, and have endured ten reincarnations of misery and being Star-Crossed Lovers.
