- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: While Red Helper's jumpscare and story help move the plot along, Owlowicious' appearance doesn't really add much to the story aside from a quick scare and doesn't appear again after the scene.
- Funny Moments: Despite the story being terrifying, there are some moments that give the story some levity.
- The author snarking about the poorly-designed website the episode is hosted on, calling it "amateurly coded" and rolling their eyes at the description. This doesn't last long, however.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: As pointed out by one commenter, Scootaloo wanting to hear a scary story becomes humorous after the events of "Sleepless in Ponyville", where Scootaloo faces her nightmares after hearing scary campfire stories.
- A pony becoming a villain and doing heinous things to another pony becomes doubly hilarious after the introduction of Starlight (who, while not as violent as murder, has enslaved an entire village as well as ripping their cutie marks off).
