YMMV / Los Ingobernables de Japon

Go To

  • Draco in Leather Pants: Despite being openly heels, the crowd, like with Bullet Club and Chaos, loves Los Ingobernables and cheers them on even when they are attacking referees and ring crew. Even crowds that in the past had been openly hostile to Naito have cheered him.
    • Heel–Face Turn: To the point that they gradually became full blown Faces. Both Naito and Hiromu are openly faces in pretty much every way possible (somewhat ironic as they were previously the most blatant heels of the group). EVIL has become a bit better at crowd pandering. SANADA is...well, The Stoic so nothing has really changed. And BUSHI is...there.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The first guy that Naito brought to form the stable is the same guy that would later end his two belts championship reign and betrayed the the very stable he and Naito co found together.
  • More Popular Spin Off: There's a case to be made that they are this to the orignal Los Ingobernables. While Los are the biggest stable in Lucha Libre of the past decade, Los Ingobernables de Japón has the eyes of the whole wrestling world.
  • Narm Charm: EVIL embodies this; he looks more like he's wearing a cheap Halloween costume than a The Undertaker Expy that NJPW were clearly going for...that is, until he takes the amusing gear off and beats you in the ring. It's also a bit of Fridge Brilliance: he could put forth the effort to be genuinely scary and intimidating, but he's a member of LIJ, so why would he bother?
  • Tear Jerker: Hiromu's awful neck injury from his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title defense against Dragon Lee at G1 Special in San Francisco in 2018. He went out for the rest of the year and the majority of 2019 until finally returning at the end of it.
    • To a much-lesser extent, EVIL's defection from the group in July of 2020. Not only was this the first betrayal in the faction's five-year history, but it was from the first guy to join Naito in his now-iconic stable. And then the next night, EVIL did the unexpected and won the two belts from his former leader. Hiromu really sold the sadness of the situation, first acting tough and stepping up as EVIL's next challenger, but then breaking down as soon as his former friend walked away.
