YMMV / Lords Of The Realm 3

Go To

  • Scrappy Mechanic: Similar to Lords of the Realm 2 and the Total War series, there is a zoomed-out strategic layer where armies march and zoomed-in tactical layer where armies battle. Unlike those games, both layers are running in real-time at all times. This results in such weirdness as a small skirmish being resolved in the same length of time it takes for a giant army to march across the whole country. It also means that invading armies often need to defeat two defending armies: the main garrison, plus the reinforcements that have plenty of time to arrive. It's a unique concept and makes the game more multiplayer-friendly, but it also ended up being the main criticism of the game.
