YMMV / Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The soundtrack is one of the best things about the game.
    • "Artemis" - One of the pre-battle themes that reminds the enemies they aren't up against any regular cute girls, they're up against daughters of God!
    • "Artemisias Assault" - A slightly haunting theme where the characters decide to finally go on the offensive and take the Big Bad down.
    • "Determination" - Signifies nearly every Let's Get Dangerous! moment in the game.
    • "Innkeeper" - Accompanies The Moment of Awesome in Chapter 2 when Luchs restores Beatrix's power and the two of them fight their way through a horde of monsters.
  • Complete Monster: Kaiser Sein is an immortal who turned a once-prosperous kingdom into an evil empire through waging countless wars that spanned the entire globe, while seeking to usurp God's power by literally enslaving God's seven daughters, the Artemisias, and using them to obtain even more power. While he may seem a Tragic Villain, as he originally wanted the Lachryma in order to bring his wife Back from the Dead, he put all of the blame on his newborn son, goes through Motive Decay, and by the end, he uses the fake Lachyrima to revive his wife's body, which cannot survive without his power, and forces her to fight against her will, just like he did the Artemisias. By the end of the game, he's completely disregarded his own wife's wishes in favor of simply seizing the power of the Verboten Magna.
  • Difficulty Spike: The game suffers a huge one near the end, in no part due to there being too many enemies to actually attack.
  • Ending Fatigue: While the game ironically slows down at the point where it's obvious the budget ran out, the ending has it the worst. You constantly fight (and explicitly kill) the same boss a number of times, ending with fighting the same boss in an hours long fight. Said boss also has an attack that will instantly kill your entire party that it can use at will, and can only be survived by grinding or using Addie and having her revive everyone else.
  • Inferred Holocaust: We never really get any confirmation on what it's like outside of the main island chain. If monsters appeared in other places, then the world is seriously at risk.
  • Moment of Awesome: Luchs and Beatrix fighting their way out of the cave in Chapter 2 after Luchs restores Beatrix's power. Comes complete with Theme Music Power-Up.
  • Narm: Kaiser is so incredibly evil and devoid of any redeemable traits that he puts Saturday morning cartoon villains to shame. As such, it can be hard to take him seriously.
  • Scrappy Mechanic: Unlike many Strategy RPGs, allies cannot move through each other, which is annoying when traveling through narrow spaces. Enemies also share this limitation, though whether or not that's bad depends on the situation.
  • Strangled by the Red String: Lottie's third heart event happens automatically for Luchs after all party members have been recruited. This happens regardless of whether her other two have been seen, though it interestingly doesn't allow you to choose her route if you saw someone else's third event.
  • Tear Jerker: Gabriele revealing that Kaiser used the power of the bracelet to force the Artemisias to raze towns and fight in a war against their will! Gabbie really sells it when she breaks down with, "I didn't want to fight..."
  • That One Attack: Kaiser's lance thrust in his normal form, due to it dealing five digit damage. Additionally, there's the Sickle Chaser move the final boss has, which has a large range and will kill anyone that isn't Addie that's caught in it.
  • That One Level: The first battle of the final chapter is this if the player is en route to Gabrielle's ending for the simple reason that the battle is a rematch fight against the Chapter 12 boss (who has an instant death attack) and there will be no dedicated healer!note
