  • Awesome Art: Camilla Gomez's Animesque artwork has been universally praised by players and reviewers alike. The pixel art is considered just as good as the hand drawn stuff.
  • Game-Breaker: Pascal's "Mutability" skill, which lowers ATK on all enemies for three turns, works not just on mooks, but also on bosses like Sgt. Branna, reducing their damage to 1. This ended up getting nerfed in the full release, lowering the ATK by a percentage rather than hard dropping its value to 1.
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • The Core's higher-ups are firmly established as being the true villains at the start when they order the slaughter of an entire town of innocent civilians, children included, and mislead their own soldiers into thinking they're enemy combatants.
    • It's revealed that the old guard of The Core crossed it years ago when they started abducting women to churn out babies to form their army of Child Soldiers, disposing of said women after they stopped being fertile.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
    • Considering the narrative condemns the pointless loss of life in war, the fact that none of the combatants in The Core can be convinced to defect or even just stand down with the exception of Coyle feels like a very glaring missed opportunity.
    • A photo can be found in the final area revealing that The Core had several founding members. The opportunity to have a Big Bad Duumvirate or Big Bad Ensemble is completely squandered as none of them except Eugene ever make an appearance in the story.
