YMMV / lonelygirl15 S01 Season Finale

  • Alternative Character Interpretation:
    • In the early videos, were Sarah and Taylor being jerkasses who unjustifiably wanted Daniel and Jonas to quit trying to save their friend, or were they just expressing genuine concern for Daniel and Jonas in the only way they really could, which happened to be very inconvenient for our heroes? Or a little bit of both?
    • In Part 1, is Sarah's rant that Bree doesn't really care about Daniel her genuine belief, an attempt to manipulate Daniel so that she can have him, or a type of Psychological Projection of what she might do onto Bree?
  • Broken Base: Bree's death split the fandom heavily, with many people swearing off the series after this point.
  • Funny Moments: Unusually for the show, just about the only one is in part 5, when Nikki B. opens the bathroom door and Taylor throws a roll of toilet paper at her, as if that would've done anything to the Watcher she was expecting.
  • Genius Bonus: In Part 7, after a cut, we hear Spencer in the middle of a spiel about the specs of some airplane. He's actually describing the H-4 Hercules, more commonly known as the Spruce Goose.
  • He Really Can Act:
    • Becki Kregoski (Taylor) was - to varying degrees - dragged for pretty much the entirety of her run on the show up to this point for, frankly, being pretty bad whenever she had to portray a dramatic moment. Until the finale, where she is far more effective than she has been at any point before, convincingly portraying Taylor's frustration, anger, fear, and anxiety at various points.
    • Alexandra Dreyfus (Sarah) had already shown some chops in "Everybody Does It ;)" and to a lesser degree "Entertaining Myself", but her bitter, emotional speech at the end of part 11 where Sarah is on the edge of tears and ends up trying to hide her sadness is where her acting skill should become very clear.
    • Yousef abu-Taleb (Daniel) definitely steps it showing anger over Sarah being a pain early on, panic when he's helping Spencer tend to Jonas, and a tear-jerking breakdown in the penultimate video, but his best moment is in part 6 when he really shows some anger and even betrayal when he believes Sarah isn't going to try and help them save Bree.
    • Jackson Davis (Jonas) was already hailed as the best actor by the fans, but his speech to Taylor in part 9 where he apologizes to her for dragging her into all this is a Tear Jerker.
  • Moment of Awesome: Part 5, where Nikki Bower, using Jerry as a distraction, manages to sneak up on and knock out a Watcher with a fire extinguisher to the head.
  • Nightmare Fuel: In the second half of the finale.
    • Part 8:
      • The Jump Scare where the thug suddenly comes from around the corner and stabs Jonas, knocking him to the ground. It's completely unexpected on the first viewing, and, with this being the finale, you wonder if Anyone Can Die is in effect.
      • Daniel stabbing the thug with his own dropped knife. The deliberate way he does it is merely a little unnerving, but then he just keeps pressing it into the thug's chest until he's on the ground. And then after he's been taken down, Taylor drops the camera and we find this was no Instant Death Stab and the last part of the video is just a shot of the thug slowly bleeding out from his wounds and shaking from blood loss.
    • Part 9 is almost entirely Taylor and Jonas alone in a dimly-lit room, with Jonas' shirt covered in blood and him in tears, apologizing for getting Taylor involved in all this.
    • Part 10 gives us a shot of Jonas' wound, which looks gruesome, with his stomach covered with blood and Spencer's fingers also getting stained as he tends to him.
