YMMV / Little House On The Prairie S 10 E 1 A Look Back To Yesterday

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: When Nancy asks Albert what it's like to know you're dying, was she asking him in a gratuitous moment of cruelty, because she was morbidly curious about what it was like but didn't care about Albert's feelings or was she being Innocently Insensitive?
  • Epileptic Trees: Fans conflict regarding the fate of Albert following the climatic scene (he helps lead a walk up a tall mountain to bury a class time capsule), since it ends abruptly. Some fans suggest that, moments after burying the time capsule and celebrating, he passes out from exhaustion and dies shortly afterward from his illness. Others refer back to "Home Again," where in Laura's postlogue she says that Albert returned to Walnut Grove several years later to begin his career as a doctor. Thepries include that he somehow overcame his diagnosis or was misdiagnosed, hence he returned as a doctor year later.
  • He's Just Hiding: Unsurprisingly, there are some who believe Albert survived his Lethal Diagnosis, often citing the end of "Home Again" where Laura's voiceover informs that he'd return to Walnut Grove as Dr. Albert Ingalls. It helps that the film ends with Albert still alive, if very frail, with a Hope Spot about how much longer he'd live. Some theorize that he outlived his shortened lifespan long enough to become a doctor, whereas others believe he was misdiagnosed.
  • Questionable Casting: Albert's girlfriend Michelle Pearson is played by the same actress who previously played Belinda Stevens, a girl Albert was enamorated with in "The Reincarnation of Nellie". While the show is no stranger to reusing the same actors for different characters, one wonders why they recast her as another love interest of Albert's rather than just bring back Belinda with a larger role here.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Melora Hardin (Michelle Pearson) is best known by contemporary audiences as Jan Levinson.
