  • Crazy Is Cool: Sometimes the player who gets cheesed in When Cheese Fails will win using an absolutely ridiculous strategy, blowing Adam and Jeff's minds. These strategies can be anything from landing a Planetary Fortress in their opponent's base, to "Microing their Macro" by adding buildings to their wall-in faster than the cheeser can destroy them.
    • Ketroc is a player generally known for this (he was the one who landed that plantetary fortress in an enemy's base), and fans when they see his name expect something awesome.
      • On another occasion, Ketroc defeated his opponent using nothing but Ravens and Planetary Fortresses.
    • AlbinoFly and his fourteen Nexus opening. That is to say, he spent the first ten minutes of the game building Nexi in every single expansion on the map and training nothing but Probes - and still won by virtue of stalling the opponent for long enough to get a massive army with sheer number of expansions and all the resources on the map. MaximusBlack and NovaWar openly called it the craziest/stupidest strategy they've seen that actually worked.
    • TechnicGoose (whom Jeff and Adam infamously dubbed "TechnoGoose") nearly lost a game to an all-in by his Terran opponent, only to come back from the brink of defeat thanks to a proxy Dark Shrine, a Dark Templar that racked up 30 kills, and the fact that his opponent didn't get an Orbital Command.
    • BaDitO dealing with his opponent's massive fleet of Void Rays by ignoring them and zerg rushing with unending waves of Zealots. While Candelot takes out the first few waves without his base being harmed, once the Zealots get Charge, he can no longer keep up and they start hacking away at his base even as he focus fires them down.
  • Ethnic Scrappy: "Tyrone", MaximusBlack's attempt at a stereotypical black voice.
  • Memetic Mutation: NovaWar likes to reference the "Sup dawg, I heard you like X..." meme a lot.
  • Moment of Awesome:
    • FireToBlaze, who managed to win by allowing his opponent to stomp all over his main base before turning the tables by spawning twenty Ultralisks to annihilate his opponent and another eleven to finally win.
    • Episode 10 of When Cheese Fails Season 5 sees an unprecedented and ballsy-as-hell cheese by Terran player Fitzhugh which goes swimmingly, leaving opponent Ian's workers shredded and his buildings floating around. But it turns out Fitz got Out-Gambitted and Ian isn't done yet...
    • Bayaz versus Akrybion in the Cheese Only Tournament. From Bayaz's by-then standard near-perfect cheese, to the return of the Levar Burtoncruiser, Akrybion completely reverses LagTV's previous bias for Bayaz in probably the most epic reversal the channel has ever seen.
    • From NovaWar Says we have Game 10, "Trippin' Balls", where MaximusBlack has to play under the restriction of only using Sentries in his army. MaximusBlack is able to scare one of his opponents into surrendering by Hallucinating an army of fake Archons, leaving the remaining opponent easy pickings.
    • Game 24, "Edumikated" requires him to assault the enemy only with fully-upgraded units, forcing him to turtle for most of the game. His partner ragequits, but by that time MaximusBlack's invincible death-ball of units is nearly ready to move out.
    • Season 8, Episode 5 of When Cheese Fails features one of the only strategies to surpass "That blue block is moving" in generating sheer, falling-over-themselves awe from NovaWar and MaximusBlack: The Vortex Nuke. Cheesers Gibson uses a Mothership Vortex attack to clump up and immobilize enemy units so that partner Fre Akshow's Ghost can drop a nuke on the clump. It requires exquisite timing and teamwork to pull off, and it's one of the few times Jeff and Adam are genuinely sorry to see the cheeser lose.
    • Will Cheese Fail: Biggest Handicap Ever Edition'': Joshimuz attempts to cheese by creating a second Command Center and loading a single SCV inside it before flying it off to the corner of the map then simply goes afk for half an hour. After seemingly getting bored of his opponent TeRa not even looking for his base, Joshimuz throws his remaining SCVs at TeRa to remind him he's still around then starts playing for real and makes a successful comeback despite having only a single SCV to his name.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: "Uh, Jeff? That blue block is moving." If a Terran player is attempting a Planetary Fortress gambit (which both the casters and the fans love to see), Adam will drop this line.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: FireToBlaze. In his one and only match on LAGTV, he hogged almost 10,000 minerals at once while allowing his Protoss opponent to stomp all over his main base with only one natural expansion in the bank, before spawning twenty Ultralisks at once at his expansion while his enemy was distracted with the main, using said Ultralisks to ROFLstomp all over the Protoss main, and making ANOTHER ELEVEN Ultralisks to finish the job.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Acknowledged; in response to the fans calling for more Minecraft, the guys pointed out that it wouldn't be as entertaining because Jeff had gotten better at the game in the meantime, meaning the comedy aspect of him dying in funny ways while screaming like a little girl would be severely reduced if not gone entirely.
