YMMV / Letter League

Go To

  • Default Setting Syndrome: Many players are not aware of the settings menu, likely because it's hidden behind the regular menu button, which itself is pretty small and not very relevant to most players. As a result, games tend to be played with the default settings (short game, "wild" scoring mode, timer enabled).
  • Game-Breaker:
    • Wild Mode scoring makes trivial extensions (e.g. simply adding an S) to words significantly more powerful, as all of the preexisting letters are still subject to the same bonus multipliers. This means players can usually very easily match their opponents' scores simply by playing the same word plus an extension, whereas in Scrabble this would typically require also creating a second, hooked word in order to produce enough points to be viable.
    • The Tile Bag. Instead of showing you the full unseen tile pool (i.e. the tiles in the bag plus the tiles on your opponents' racks), it shows you only the tiles that are actually in the bag. With the help of some manual tile tracking, this allows one to maintain perfect knowledge throughout the entire game of their opponent's rack in a 2-player Medium or Long game, note  and at least partial knowledge in all other cases.
