YMMV / Leprechaun: Origins

Go To

  • Padding: The film's 90 minute running time is technically true but for all means and purposes a lie, since 12 of those minutes are the end credits.
  • Replacement Scrappy: The monster is this to the original leprechaun, lacking any of his charm or Large Ham status.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The biggest complaint of the film is that it lacks the hammy charm of the original series. The Darker and Edgier themes didn't seem to fit the title, since the originals acknowledged the genre. It doesn't help that the titular creature bears no resemblance whatsoever to a leprechaun, let alone the one from the previous movies. What makes it even harder to ignore this movie is that it gets included in the DVD movie collection packages along with the six older Leprechaun movies.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Many viewers feel that Hornswoggle, famous for his leprechaun persona, would have been a perfect fit for the Leprechaun role in a reboot faithful to the campy comedic originals. Unfortunately, this casting is squandered on an In Name Only reboot where he doesn't even get to look like an actual leprechaun, let alone talk.
