- Fan Nickname: The aliens are never given an official species name. However, the fanbase usually refers to them as "Crystaliens", named after the CrystAlien Conflict game. Another part of the community refers to them as "Phobians", coming from the planet "Phobon".
- Inferred Holocaust: For fans of LEGO Life on Mars who view both LEGO themes as taking place within the same continuity, the fact that Mars is barren aside from the evil alien invaders does not bode well for the friendly Martians.
- Spiritual Successor: Many fans see Mars Mission as a successor to LEGO Life on Mars, especially seeing as the former is the only other line to reuse the latter's vacuum pump tube system... oh, and yeah, because they both take place on Mars. Although both themes share the same Martian setting, unique vacuum pump system, and other similar concepts, Mars Mission does not continue the storyline of Life on Mars and presumably takes place in its own continuity.
