YMMV / Legends of Tomorrow S3E1 "Aruba-Con"

Go To

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Did Rip really believe the Legends were no longer needed, or could he not bear the fact he was no longer the boss, meaning that he formed the Time Bureau out of his desire to have a team that would actually listen to him for once? Or since he lets the Legends keep the Waverider and privately vouches for them to Agent Sharpe, is the whole thing just some Jerkass act he has to keep up for some hidden reason? Does he still feel guilt for what he did under the Legion of Doom’s control and see running the Bureau and staying away from his old team as penance?
  • Informed Wrongness: Nate blames Rip for Amaya returning to 1942. First, it was her decision. Second, even if it wasn't, her not going back would result in Mari not being born. Time had to be restored in the end.
  • Narm: The show bizarrely treats the word "anachronism" as some super-advanced jargon that only the most brilliant of minds would know, with even Stein having to ask what it means.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: Rip and the Time Bureau surely come off as jerks right from the start, but nothing they say about the Legends constantly screwing up is false per se, as they prove once again in this very episode. However considering they judge the Legends are for taking necessary actions taken due to Rip not destroying the Spear when he had a chance.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The Legends to a degree. At times, they come off as irresponsible jerks that are causing unnecessary problems just because they're bored. In fact, the entirety of the episode is the Legends trying to fix problems they created. Then again they swing a little more on the sympathetic side when you consider they literally had no choice in the matter. Break time or leave the rest of reality to be controlled by Eobard Thawne.
