YMMV / Legend of Heavenly Sphere Shurato

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The opening theme "Shining Soul" by Satoko Shimiasu, also her debut song. Also Om Shura Sowaka and Seth The Fire.
  • Complete Monster: Shiva, the Goddess of Destruction and the secret Big Bad, is the ruler of the Asura forces. sealed away thousands of years ago by the God Brahma for conspiring to overthrow the established order. Manipulating the goddess Vishnu's protector Indra into betraying her, Shiva later returns and promptly sacrifices countless thousands of her own forces just to test Vishnu's defenses. Once satisfied, Shiva begins attacking civilians with the Asura forces, killing all she can. Not satisfied, Shiva uses her powers to corrupt even more innocent people to set them after one another with more bloodshed. Revealing that Shurato's former best friend Gai was corrupted by her long ago, Shiva promptly kills Vishnu, followed by most of her army, to absorb their powers and use her powers to seize on the darkness within all humans' hearts, intending on wiping out everyone to showcase her supremacy.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: A rather obscure show, even in Japan, mostly due to its resemblance to Saint Seiya. Yet it has quite a following in Brazil (even though it also aired alongside Saint Seiya there — though in the same channel, so they weren't Dueling Shows in this case).
  • Ho Yay: Hyuga and Ryoma. And Reiga likes to mess with Shurato's head via sounding pretty flirty when he speaks to him, too...
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Reiga was rocking the Lyoko style hairdo before Odd was.
  • Iron Woobie: Shurato. He does NOT take the deaths of his allies well at all, and his best friend is now the Rival Turned Evil. And yet, while he cracks once in a while, he manages to not break.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Shurato's Brazilian voice actor, Marcelo Campos, is nowadays popular in the role of Yugi Muto/Yami Yugi.
  • Tear Jerker: More than one, for a super upbeat series.
