YMMV / Legend - A Dragon Ball Tale

Go To

  • Awesome Animation: One of the main reasons why this short film got so much attention. The Studio TRIGGER-style animation and choreography is absolutely jaw-dropping for a new studio.
  • Awesome Art: The film has some really great art and designs for the characters.
  • Awesome Moments:
    • Vegeta holding his own against Broly, and fashioning his own Super Saiyan energy into a beam sword. He cuts off Broly's hand with it. He only gets pinned down due to a brief moment of hubris, as expected of Vegeta, but he was fighting on equal terms with Broly and did some permanent damage to him.
    • Goku going full-on Monkey King with his own transformation (after he remembers who Chi-Chi is and is furious about Broly hurting her), and putting Broly on the back foot with just two hits. This is immediately followed up by Goku and Vegeta taking out Broly with a dual Kamehameha.
    • Vegeta became king of the Saiyan race in this universe. His royal heritage has mostly become irrelevant in modern Dragon Ball, but here it clearly informs his actions and responsibilities, as he has come to take down the rogue Super Saiyan of legend and recruit Goku.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Chi-Chi coming to Goku's defense and taking a hit from Broly to protect him. Despite the fact she was pissed at him for not remembering her or his promise to marry her.
    • What sets Goku off? Seeing Broly break Chi-Chi’s arm.
    • After finally defeating Broly, Goku immediately rushes to Chi-Chi aid, lovingly telling her he remembered her finally and even saying her name.
    • Vegeta recognizes Goku’s feelings for her and encourages he marry her as soon as possible before he recruits Goku with him to train for an upcoming battle.
