  • Broken Base: The finished movie divided the Rooster Teeth fanbase, despite this being their first actual full-length movie. There are the fans who enjoyed it for what it was — a low-budget movie that was a parody of sci-fi movies that came before it and those who outright hated the movie. Those who hate the movie (usually showing up on YouTube) claim that it was boring, unfunny and sexist and accuse those who like it of being brainwashed fanboys who'd just eat up anything RT puts out despite the quality. Those who enjoyed the movie point out that it wasn't supposed to be something super-awesome in the beginning (Burnie Burns even admitted that they had no idea what it would be about when they first made it) and that most of the haters on YouTube are those who just show up to try to tear down RT for hate's sake. Others feel the movie is So Okay, It's Average; liking it well enough, but finding it to be nowhere NEAR the standards of Rooster Teeth's best work.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Even though he's an ass to the team, even wanting to cut off their limbs to get the pieces back, it's easy to feel bad for Adam who was raised on being the chosen one literally from birth. Even before the Heel–Face Turn.
  • So Okay, It's Average: Ultimately the best thing that can be said about the movie. Most of the jokes fall flat, and it's understandable if you hate it, but for others (usually Rooster Teeth fans), it's amusing enough.
  • Special Effect Failure: For some, the Warg's design made it too hard to take it seriously as a threat.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Many critics who panned the movie cited this for the heroes, unable to find them likeable due to their Jerkass nature.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: The Vine joke was already this when the movie came out, but it got even worse with the 2016 announcement that Vine would eventually be shut down. Thankfully it was only used in the trailer, and was removed for the movie proper.
