YMMV / Laxius Force

Go To

  • Breather Level: The second area of the Balthus Caves, with weaker enemies, where the first area has really annoying enemies.
  • Demonic Spiders: Watch out, in certain dungeons these can be found;
    • Doom Towers in Laxius Power 1. They have a truckload of HP, and have physical attacks that hit hard.
    • Try to fight an Thaumaturgist. Their super fast, and can use Nymphs' Para to make your guys go asleep so the enemies can wipe you out within 1 or 2 turns.
    • Archmage of the Wind in Laxius Power 3. They will spam Lord of the Dance which is a physical attack which no one can resist. He's also one of the fastest monsters in the game.
    • If your trying to get through the Ore Lab, watch out for the Slaughterers. They have high HP, and have a punchy attack. There's a area where there's a treasure chest containing Mayuca's Winter and Predator Gloves, but when you open the chest, the Slaughterers will chase after you, and there's TWO of them each battle.
    • A new Demonic Spider arrives in Laxius Force, which are the Glueys, oh boy. They can freeze you at the beginning of the fight, forcing to wait it out, and when their unfrozen, experience to see some struggle trying to survive against their freezing attacks.
  • Difficulty Spike: When you get to Astral-Litz, be prepared to face against the toughest enemies in the game.
  • Goddamned Boss: Phoenix God, he has extremely high health. You have to dish out very high amounts of damage to beat this guy. Want to run away from that? You have to kill this guy if you want Yveen to revive another character.
  • Good Bad Bugs:
    • Do the Pet Tournament in Laxius Power 3 when Luciana leaves your party. Once you finish the pet tournament scene, the game will think Luciana is still in your party, and you will have her even when she leaves.
    • In the Crystal Palace entrance, go down into the black areas and go left, up, right until you find another area. You'll be able to skip to the next part where you're going up instead of down.
  • Growing the Beard: The Laxius Force series, compared to the Laxius Power series. The gameplay has been improved slightly, (more quests&characters, more status effects, more variety in skills, greater variety of stats, saving anywhere without having to use Sandy's 'Vision' spell, etc.,) but the biggest change is in the story and characters. Characters have a lot more to say than in the original trilogy, and are generally more fleshed out, while the story gets more cutscenes and dialogue devoted to fleshing itself out as well. This trilogy also sees Random develop from a Jerk with a Heart of Gold who is partially Only in It for the Money and the fame&glory, into a true hero that doesn't give a rat's @$$ about any of that when it comes to saving lives and doing good. And a number of the returning characters from the previous games get some development as well.
  • Lowest Common Denominator: The first episodes sink into this sometimes, especially in the portrayal of women. At some point in Laxius Power I, you'll meet a man with his wife, whose only line of dialogue is "I'm his wife. I do whatever he wants."
  • Player Punch: The murder of Sandy, and the death of King Julian and his court.
  • Slow-Paced Beginning: The early game in Laxius Power 3 consists of running around and talking to people to advance. It takes a while to get into the action sequences.
  • That One Attack:
    • Nymphs' Para, which is an attack which can pull your entire party to sleep for the enemies to bomb you with attacks.
    • 666 in Laxius Power 1. Highest damage attack, dark element, and can wipe out a entire party in one or two shots.
    • Lord of the Dance, it hits you regardless of your resistance AND drains your defense.
    • Cemetery in 3 Stars of Destiny, which kills your entire party in one shot. Luckily, if you had played Laxius Power, you would find out you would need Coryool to dodge that attack.
  • That One Boss: As later games have dozens of bosses, these are common.
    • Guardian of the Dark Souls from Chanterless Church. He has high damaging dark attacks, which can kill most of your party members with one hit except dark element characters such as Wendala.
    • Teszandrus, he can easily stun your party members and has various monsters alongside him, wasting your turns.
    • Evalyn, also called Evalyn the Cheater by fans, and also one of the most annoying. She can summon enemies to aid her but she's also a Duel Boss. You can only fight her only with Sarah AND without wearing any gear.
    • Pyramid Core trio in Laxius Power 3. There's 3 guys, and they have a truckload of HP, and they have high attack, forcing you to spam Protection and Shield on your party to resist the attacks.
    • Ocean Gaes, from Laxius Force 3, and one of the hardest in the game. He has a load of HP and resistance, and he has one of the most deadliest attacks in the game. Too easy? Try fighting the big brother Supreme Gaes.
  • That One Level: The Iron Manor maze in Astral-Litz, you have to go through an invisible maze. In this maze, there is no light indicating where you are, one wrong move and your dead. Only Wendala tells you what to do, and she later keeps correcting mistakes, and leaves yourself with no instruction for the final move, forcing you to rely in Trial-and-Error Gameplay. Have fun figuring out the right moves!
  • That One Sidequest: The 10,000 victories sidequest in Laxius Power I, when on any normal playthrough you'll probably be getting around 2000 victories tops; even using the two spots specifically made to spawn literally thousands of easy battles, it is extremely time consuming and boring, and you have to be very careful of not triggering some events at the wrong moment, or your 9500 battles so far may become useless. Guide Dang It!!
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: Herasia is a tom cat!
