• Alternative Character Interpretation: With the central drama hinging on the Ambiguous Situation of how Doyle was killed by Kendra and why, both Doyle and Kendra's characters are hugely up to the viewer's interpretation.
  • Doyle: A secret Black-hating power-abusing Dirty Cop who at most had a blind spot for his Black girlfriend? Or a non-prejudiced guy who loved his Black girlfriend, but wasn't always caught up on what Black people found distasteful?
  • Kendra: Did she really kill Doyle because she feared she was about to be attacked by a Bigot with a Badge? Did she shoot him by accident and then decide to run with her lawyer's suggested race-based defense ploy because she didn't want to leave her sister alone? Or did she purposefully murder Doyle because he was a White man and a cop, two categories of people she hated, and then she cynically tried to play the race card in order to get away with murder?
  • Did Kendra and/or her lawyer genuinely believe Doyle was racist? Or were they just trying to exploit racial politics to get Kendra off?
