• Iron Woobie: All of the kids (and even some of the adults) are this postwar. The leader of the cadets, Tina, is especially hit with this. First, her parents and older brother die in a car accident that she survives (along with a helping of Survivor Guilt) and she moves in with her aunt and uncle as a result. Then, the events of Land of Flatwater happen. Then, her Parental Substitute and the person who inspired her to join the Civil Air Patrol prewar gets shot and killed. Seriously, the girl needs a big hug...
